Many people have heard and know a lot about Hedonism II in Negril Jamaica, but what they do not know that for over a decade, there has been a similar product in Cancun, Mexico that has proven to be fierce rivals for the notorious Jamaican Adult Playground. In the heart of the Mexican Riviera Maya, there are too adult’s only clothing optional resorts known as Desire Riviera Maya and Desire Pearl. The Desire brand entered the adult travel community at a time when it was needed most, and they have done an incredible job at becoming a unique alternative and a more than viable option for Lifestylers looking to find a safe place to vacation and be open-minded.

Desire Resorts primarily operates as a brand that caters to lifestyle or what most may know as “Swinger Couples.” Unlike competitive brands, Desire Resorts do not allow singles which make it very appealing to couples in the lifestyle that prefers being around other couples. While most lifestyle couples do not mind having singles around and even seek them out, some couples are exclusively about being with other couples, so the Desire Resorts are perfect for this Niche Group. Desire recently launched a “Young Wild And Sexy” theme for the month of August each year, where singles are allowed to be at the Resort. There are also exceptions made in the event of a big group take-over, and that is requested. Outside of those two scenarios, expect to find only couples vacationing at Desire Resorts.

2. Clothing Optional

Resorts that caters to swingers are expected to offer nude or clothing-optional facilities. However, it is important to note that swingers and nudist are two very different people and being either of the two does not at all mean you are the other. Many Swinger Couples are not nudist, and so a Clothing Optional Resort is perfect for them. Clothing Optional means that you are allowed to be naked or keep your clothes on if you feel like it. Desire offers a clothing optional concept throughout the entire resort which means nudity is allowed but never mandatory in any area. This makes it ideal for first timers that are probably a little nervous to be involved in the action without feeling forced to jump right n “Head First.” Others may just have no interest in being naked publicly but want to be a part of everything else going on. For those that enjoy being naked, there is no problem for them as Desire Resorts makes clothing optional in all common areas except where food is served.

Desire made its name by trying to become something for the lifestyle travel community that was pretty much non-existent before the Desire Resorts came about. While it’s Jamaican competitors are more focused on entertainment and parties, Desire has built their brand around luxury & romance. The rooms at Desire Riviera Maya are at least a 4 star quality and the other amenities such as the Restaurants, the Night Club and my favourite location of all, the “Rooftop Jacuzzi Lounge” are top notch amenities which adds a touch of class to your vacation. The Desire Pearl Resort was once a regular luxury boutique Cancun resort and now serves as the Diamond brand for Desire. So couples that are looking to be in an open environment while on Vacation, and do not mind paying to enjoy Premium accommodations, then Desire Pearl is your ideal option.

4. Great Location

Many lifestyle clothing optional resorts have opened and closed relatively quickly over the years for one main reason. Location! In Real Estate whether permanent or temporary, accommodations must be convenient for its buyers and Desire Resort got it right when they choose to make Cancun, Mexico their home. Most major airports in North America offers a daily direct flight to the Cancun International Airport, and within 30 minutes after you exit the airport, your shuttle could be pulled up at the Desire Riviera Maya or the Desire Pearl lobby. Additionally, there are many offsite attractions in and around the Mayan Riviera, and great nightlife in the Downtown Cancun region. So if you feel like getting off the resort one day or night to experience something local, nothing is ever too far away.

5. Amazing Service

One of the things I have spoken about very often since the time I first visited the Desire Resorts, is the incredible service you experience. The staff are responsive and extremely polite, which makes you feel appreciated and catered for on your paid vacation. Poolside and room service are available adding to the convenience; just the type of thing you need when on any holiday. I am pretty sure that there is someone that will say that their experience with the staff at Desire was not great, but most will agree with me when I say, the service there is absolutely incredible.

6. Intimacy

Both Desire Resorts are relatively small and intimate when compare to other large all inclusive resorts. With only 120 rooms at the Desire Riviera Maya location and Only 80 rooms at Desire Pearl, these hotels are what we would classify as boutiques. The property sizes are around 5 acres, providing for a very tight and intimate setting. While some couples enjoy the bigger crowds and party atmosphere, Desire Resorts are more about being laid back and socialising with other like-minded couples. It is very likely that you spend the rest of your time on Vacation at Desire hanging out with the same group of people you met on the first day. Which makes it a great place to build amazing friendships.
